A southern Scott County man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday, Oct. 31, according to Indiana State Police Sgt. Tracy Spencer.
Authorities were informed of the possible crash on south Boatman Road south of West Lake Road by an automated alert from an Apple Watch around 3:30 p.m.
A gray 2014 Chevrolet Cruze was southbound on Boatman Road and for an unknown reason, the car traveled across the northbound lane and off the east side of the roadway and collided with a tree.
The driver, James C. Lasher, 48, of West County Line Road, Underwood in southern Scott County was unresponsive and rushed to Scott County Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased after arriving, Spencer reported.
There were no other passengers, and no other vehicles were involved in the collision. Investigators believe a medical event may have initiated the crash.
Scott County EMS, the Vienna and Scottsburg Fire Department, and the Scott County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
