A 33-year-old Scottsburg man is in Scott County Jail on a variety of charges after he broke into the home of his estranged wife holding her at gunpoint
Jason G. Hall was charged with burglary, criminal confinement, intimidation, and pointing a firearm.
Police were called to 5978 N. Jack Morgan Road north of Austin around 8 a.m. Friday with a report of a home invasion.
Authorities were advised a man had broken into the home of his estranged wife and was armed with a gun. When police arrived two children exited the home. Officers then learned that the children’s father, Jason Hall, was holding their mother at gunpoint and would not let her leave the residence.
Officers at the scene were able to make contact with Hall inside the home and were able to talk him into releasing the woman. She exited the home but Hall refused to come out.
The Indiana State Police Hostage Crisis Negotiators and the Indiana State Police Emergency Response Team were called to the scene. After about four hours of negotiations Hall exited the home and was taken into custody.
Police report that no one was injured in the incident.
