Dennis Allman, 55, and his wife, Shannon Parnell, 47, both of the 3400 block of S. Slate Ford Road, Scottsburg, were booked into Scott County Jail early afternoon on Oct. 31.

According to Scott County Chief Deputy Toby Deaton, his investigation began in June when a conversation with an inmate who told the officer that Dennis Allman was dealing methamphetamine and had multiple firearms at his residence. The inmate also told Deaton that Allman’s residence had several surveillance cameras.

Allman was on probation and possessing firearms and use of cameras is a violation of his probation, according to the probable cause affidavit.

When probation and sheriff’s deputies went to Allman’s residence they were met by his wife, Shannon Parnell, who said he would return soon.

Officers observed numerous firearms as well as a floor cabinet in the kitchen which he inmate told officers was the location of the meth.

After Allman returned home and following a lengthy discussion Allman told officers that he had about a half pound of methamphetamine in the home as well as marijuana, cash, scales and paraphernalia.

According to the court document, Deaton reported that the inmate said Allman would bury drug related items in the backyard beside a creek. Officers located meth, marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms buried under blocks in the Allman backyard, the probable cause read.

During a later interview with Deaton and an FBI agent, Allman admitted to selling methamphetamine and marijuana. His wife admitted assisting in these transactions. According to Deaton, Parnell voluntarily showed photographs on her phone of pounds of marijuana.

Allman told authorities that he bought methamphetamine from three different sources and would purchase a pound at a time typically paying around $3,500 per pound every seven weeks “but would price shop for he best deal”, according to the court document.

Both Allman and Parnell have been charged with felony charges of dealing methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine as well as misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

Scott Circuit Court Judge Jason Mount set each of their bonds at $100,000 full cash only.
