Scott County Board of Commissioners approved the resolutions for the use of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds at their meeting on December 6.
The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 granted $1.9 trillion to help the country recover from the economic and health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Both Commissioners and Scott County Council met in November and agreed to the remaining funds that had to be allocated by the end of this year.
The following was approved by all three commissioners:
•$60,835 for a trash compactor for the transfer station,
•$1,935 to cover the closing costs of the county’s purchase of Scottsburg City Hall,
•$80,000 for the Fair Grounds to be able to build a new arena
•$85,000 to Lexington Fire Department
•$236,000 to upgrade the communication and video for the Scott County Jail Security
•$17,910 for a Link system for the Information Technology department
•$9,600 for new video meeting equipment and a smart board
•$167,422 to cover the offsets of health insurance for county employees.
After the commissioners’ meeting on December 10, the county council met and approved funding the commissioners’ resolutions from the remainder of what the county had left in ARPA funds.
The vote for the remaining ARPA funds was 6-0 from the Council with Lyndi Hughbanks not being present at the time of the vote.
