Last week Scott County Sheriff Jerry Goodin along with Jail Commander Doug Herald escorted Indiana Department of Corrections Executive Jeff Groh during the annual state jail inspection that was conducted at the Scott County Jail. Following Groh’s “white glove inspection”, the jail again passed the state’s inspection.
“I want the public to know just how hard our Jail Deputies, like our Law Enforcement Deputies, are working to become the best correctional officers in the State of Indiana.,” said Sheriff Jerry Goodin. “I am extremely pleased with their commitment and the pride they show everyday by maintaining the jail facility at a level unheard of in the past.”
Prior to these three consecutive state approvals, the Scott County Jail had not passed a jail inspection in over 20 years.
Goodin gave accolades to the inmates at the jail who cleaned their occupied space to top inspection condition.
Indiana State Jail Inspector Groh commented, “When other counties ask me how to improve their jails, I tell them to visit the Scott County Jail”.
Scott County residents need to know that jail inspections directly effects the cost of insurance that is paid by taxpayers for jail operations, said the sheriff. “This inspection passage will continue the savings to the taxpayers of Scott County,” he said.
