Kendra Smith, district three board member of the Crothersville Community Schools Board of Trustees, resigned her seat on the board effective last Wednesday, April 15, board president Robert Spicer said last week. “Mrs. Smith tendered her resignation due to her change of residence outside of the school corporation boundaries,” he said.
Indiana law provides that when a vacancy occurs on a school board, the remaining school board members select a replacement to fill the remainder to the term.
Anyone interested in applying to fill the remainder of her term, expiring June 30, 2010, should send a letter of interest to Robert Spicer, 9923 E Co. Rd. 700 S, Crothersville no later than next Friday, May 1.
The board plans to have a replacement selected no later than May 15, 2009, he said.
Interested persons must live in district three, consisting of the area east of U.S. 31 within the town limits of Crothersville. Letters of interest should include the person’s address, qualifications for serving, and an explanation of their interest.
Interested residents may contact any school board member for further explanation or questions. However, letters must be addressed to Spicer for formal consideration.
