Crothersville Community Schools Board of School Trustees met last Monday at the elementary school for a demonstration of the Promethean Boards installed in every classroom in both the elementary and high schools.
Promethean Boards are like large interactive blackboards connected to a computer. A multitude of learning games, activities and competitions help to foster student interest and learning.
Since the beginning of the year, Crothersville Schools has installed a total of 40, of the 88-inch and 96-inch boards, at the elementary and high school classrooms, labs, and library at a cost of about $150,000.
Elementary School Principal Chris Marshall and second-grade teacher Cassondra Kelly led the presentation to school board members.
“If you walked into our building at anytime of the day, you would find everyone’s board on,” Kelly said.
She also gave school board members the opportunity to use the board like the students do in class.
In other business, the board:
•approved the 2010-2011 school calendar.
•approved Andy Nehrt as the board’s liaison to the Crothersville Parks Board.
•accepted the resignation of Tracy Hougland as co-sponsor of the class of 2012. Drew Markel was approved as the spring and summer weight training coach.
