In Scott County Republicans won nearly all races for county office, Nov. 5. The lone bright spot for the Democrats was John C. Lizenby’s win for one of the three county council at large seats. Lizenby led all vote getters with 4,096 votes. Also elected to the council were Republicans James Richey (3,941) and Justin Cheatham (3,825).

They bested GOP’s John Hardin (3,731) and Dems Teresa Baker Vannarsdall (2,751) and Jim Boswell (2,574).

In the race for Scott County Commissioner District 1, Republican Randy Julian was re-elected with 5,486 over Democrat Donnie Richie’s 3,834.

It was a three-way race for the District 2 Commissioner’s contest. Republican Adam Bomar won the contest with 4,602. Democrat Larry Blevins collected 3,012 and Independent David G. Barrett received 1,815 votes.

In the race for county treasurer, Republican Ryan Gabbard unseated incumbent Democrat Missy Applegate 5,364 to 4,318.

Incumbent Republican county clerk Michelle Shelton won elected with 6,054 tallies to Stacey Broady Turner’s 3,546.

In the open race for county recorder, GOP’s Sarah M. Helton bested Democrat Kristi Richie-Johnson 6,275 to 3,190.

In Scott County School District 1 at-large race incumbent David F. Deaton (1,381) and Kasey White (985) were elected over Michael Bautista (970) and incumbent Darlene Hall (884).

In the Scott County District 2 race to represent Vienna Township, incumbent Rick Zollman collected 3,676 votes to Gene Ann Shapinsky Shawler’s 2,593.

In the SCSD2 Finley township contest, Melissa Jean Woods polled 2,974 votes to narrowly defeat Terry L. Jones with 2,880.

It was a 3-way race for the Johnson Township school board seat with Dustin D. McIntosh receiving 2,611 votes to win over incumbent William BJ Best (2,262) and Wesley Wes Cowan (876).

In Jackson County Republicans faced no Democratic opposition. But for a Libertarian candidate for county council at large Stephen Crawford who collected 3,004 votes to finish fourth in the race for the three at-large county council seats to Amanda Cunningham Lowery, John L. Nolting, and R. Brett Turner.

In the only contested school board race in the county, Seymour Community School Board seat to represent Hamilton township was won by Ken Browning with 4,319 votes to Kevin D. Wheatley’s $3,750

All other Jackson County School Board races were uncontested.
