Wilbur “Sonny” Walker of rural Crothersville discovered late last week that a large baldface hornets nest had been building in the gable of his home this summer. The mottled gray nest made of chewed wood fiber is about 3-feet long. This is the second time in several years and in the same place that the hornets have taken up residence on his residence.
Walker said he would wait for cooler weather and use an insecticide to dispatch the stinging insects. Walker also noted that the ground dwelling yellow jackets are plentiful this year on his property.
