A new law enforcement Training Room was recently placed into service and commemorates the first female sheriff in the state of Indiana. Marietta Hardy served as Scott County Sheriff from 1979-1982.
The training room is located in the basement of the Scott County Jail and contains a classroom with computer video capability, a driving simulator, a shooting simulator, and a defensive tactics training area.
“The Marietta Hardy Training Room is a place where deputies will train for years to come while remembering the service rendered by Sheriff Hardy to the citizens of Scott County,” said current Sheriff Jerry Goodin.
Shown with Sheriff Goodin at the commemoration of the Marietta Hardy Training room are her daughters Shari Hardy (left) and Jan Hardy.
