The Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge will be hiring four high school students this summer as part of the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program. The program will runs eight weeks from June 5 to July 28. Applicants must be U.S. citizens from 15 to 18. Successful applicants will be paid the Indiana minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.
Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge consists of approximately 7,800 acres of forests, wetlands, and grasslands. It is one of over 550 national wildlife refuges and is located in Jackson and Jennings Counties, along Highway 50 between Seymour and Hayden.
Projects to be completed during the summer include trail maintenance, habitat restoration/improvement, facility maintenance, vehicle maintenance, invasive species control, along with environmental education opportunities.
Enrollees will do hard physical work and may be exposed to insects, poison oak and ivy, adverse weather, and difficult working conditions.

Applications must be received on or before April 15 and can be mailed or delivered in person to Muscatatuck NWR, 12985 E. U.S. Hwy 50, Seymour, IN 47274.
YCC recruits will be randomly selected from applicants in early May. After selections are made, there will be an orientation for the enrollees at the refuge to complete the necessary employment paperwork.
