A Hanover woman has been charged with multiple felonies following a May 13 two-vehicle crash in Austin that claimed the life of her six-year old daughter.

Dorothy Jo Snell, 25, of the 3600 block of West State Road 56, is facing felony charges in Scott Circuit Court of neglect of dependent resulting in death, driving under the influence causing death, driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury, neglect of dependent causing bodily injury, and driving under the influence with a prior conviction.
According to the probable cause affidavit and toxicology report, Snell was found to have a blood alcohol content in excess of .209, more than twice the legal limit.
According to the court document, Snell has a previous conviction of driving under the influence on Feb. 5, 2024, in Jefferson County Court.
The warrant for her arrest, issued July 29 in Scott County, is the result of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Road 256 & US 31 in Austin around 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13.
According to ISP Trooper Tate Rohlfing, a 2022 Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on SR256 and entered the intersection on a green light to turn south on U.S. 31. At the same time, a 2008 Chrysler 300, driven by Dorothy J. Snell, 23, of Hanover, was traveling northbound on U.S. 31 and disregarded a red light, and collided with the Toyota.
Snell and two passengers in her auto, Matthew L. Giltner, and Snell’s two-year old son, Myles Romans, were injured and treated for their injuries.
Snell’s six-year old daughter Ivory Snell-Barnes, who was riding in the backseat succumbed to injuries she received in the collision.
The driver, Kelly N. Hollan, and passenger, Brian W. Dehart, of the Toyota were treated for injuries at University of Louisville Hospital.
Snell was booked in to Scott County Jail at 4:14 on Wednesday, July 30. Scott Circuit Court Judge Jason Mount set her bond at $250,000 full cash only.
