A Scott County driver was found to be asleep behind the wheel and possessing a quantity of drugs last Wednesday afternoon.
On a citizen’s tip, Scott County Deputy James Morris was dispatched to the area of north Main Street and Cutshall Road in northern Scott County to observe for a white passenger vehicle in the roadway, on March 9. When Morris located the vehicle and the driver appeared to be asleep behind the wheel.
The driver, Carrie Duke, 39 of South Thompson Road in Lexington, was arrested for multiple drug related charges when illegal drugs were found in her vehicle.
Duke was booked into Scott County Jail just before 4 p.m. and faces the following charges: possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, dealing in marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance.
Scott County Magistrate Alison T. Frazier set Duke’s bond at $15,000.
“This is another community oriented policing example when a citizen seeing something that appeared wrong and then reporting what they saw so Sheriff’s Deputies could investigate it further. Once Deputy Morris arrived on scene, he took action that resulted in the removal of this poison from our community,” said Sheriff Jerry Goodin. “I want to personally thank the citizen for placing that call to report the crime.”
