A cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) led to the arrest last Wednesday of a Washington County man for possession of child pornography.

Matthew T. Reid, 30, of South School Road in the Little York area of eastern Washington County was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography and five counts of child exploitation, all felony charges, according to Washington County court records.

Detectives with the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force in Sellersburg began an investigation in April 2023 after receiving a cyber tip report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The cyber tip report indicated that a specific account was possibly used to transmit child pornography images or video files, according to ISP Sgt. Carey Huls.

Investigators requested a search warrant based on information gathered during the investigation. As a result, on Wednesday, Oct. 4, members of the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted a search warrant at Reid’s South School Road address in eastern Washington County.

Following the search, Troopers arrested the 30-year-old and transported him to Washington County Jail.

Washington Circuit Court Judge Larry Medlock set Reid’s bail at $200,000 full cash bond. As of press deadline, he remains in custody.

The Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is a multi-agency task force that investigates and prosecutes persons who use the internet to sexually exploit or entice children, and the Indiana State Police oversees the task force.
