Notice is hereby given that the Board of Zoning Appeals of Jackson County, IN on the 10th day of November, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. EST, at the Jackson County Planning & Zoning Office located at 111 S. Indy Wells, the legal father of P.M.W., a minor child born to Megan Ashley McIntosh, also known as Megan Ashley Barker, on May 11, 2013, is notified that a Petition for Adoption of the child has been filed. The Petition was filed in the Scott Superior Court, 1 E. McClain Avenue, Suite 212, Scottsburg, Indiana 47170.
The Petition alleges that Indy Wells’s consent to adoption is not required because, while the child has been in the custody of the Petitioners, he failed without justifiable cause to communicate significantly with the child for at least one year when able to do so and/or knowingly failed to provide for the child’s care and support for at least one year when able to do so as required by law or judicial decree.
If Indy Wells wishes to contest the adoption, he must file a written motion stating his grounds for contesting it in the Scott Superior Court within fifteen (15) days after service of this Notice. If he does not timely file a motion to contest, the Court will hear and determine the Petition for Adoption, his consent will be irrevocably implied, and he will lose the right to contest the adoption or the validity of his implied consent.
No statement made to Indy Wells relieves him of his obligations under this Notice. This Notice does not set out all of his obligations under Indiana’s adoption laws. He should consult the Indiana adoption statutes and an attorney.
