NOTICE OF HEARINGS
Pursuant to Indiana Code § 20-26-7-37 and Indiana Code § 6-1.1-20-3.5, notice is hereby given that the Board of School Trustees of the Crothersville Community Schools will meet at 7:00 p.m. on August 28, 2024, and at 7:00 p.m. on September 9, 2024, at 201 South Preston Street, Crothersville, Indiana to hold public hearings. On August 28, 2024, the Board will hold a public hearing to discuss and hear objections and support regarding the proposed renovation of and improvements to facilities throughout the School Corporation including HVAC improvements and the purchase of equipment and technology (the “Project”). On September 9, 2024, the Board will hold a second public hearing to discuss and hear objections and support regarding the proposed Project and will also consider the adoption of a resolution making a preliminary determination to enter into a lease agreement relating to the Project and to issue bonds to finance the Project. You are invited to attend and participate in the public hearings.

NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF AN ORDINANCE REGULATING
GROWTH OF WEEDS AND RANK VEGETATION
IN THE TOWN OF CROTHERSVILLE, INDIANA
Taxpayers, property owners, and other interested parties in the Town of Crothersville, Indiana (“Town”) are hereby notified that the Town Council adopted an ordinance regulating the growth of weeds and rank vegetation in the Town of Crothersville. The effective date of the ordinance is August 6, 2024.
ORDINANCE NO. 2024 – 2
AN ORDINANCE GOVERNING WEEDS AND RANK VEGETATION IN THE TOWN OF CROTHERSVILLE, INDIANA
WHEREAS, a need has arisen in the Town of Crothersville, Indiana, for an ordinance governing weeds and rank vegetation to ensure that the Town remains free of the nuisances that they bring; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council has deemed it necessary to enact an ordinance to ensure elimination of these nuisances, as well as to improve the aesthetics of the Town; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Crothersville, Indiana, hereby establishes certain regulations governing weeds and rank vegetation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF CROTHERSVILLE, AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. Definitions. For the purpose of this ordinance, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning:
“Owner” refers to the owner of record, as found in the records of the Jackson County Recorder’s Office.
“Owner’s address” refers to the most recent mailing address of the owner and being that address to which the County Treasurer sends tax duplicates.
“Rank vegetation” refers to any plant growth, which is or may be harmful to the senses, health, or well–being of the citizens of the Town of Crothersville, including those that are deemed damaging to the aesthetics of the Town.
“Weeds” refers to any growth of vegetation, other than trees, bushes, shrubs, ornamental plants, or agricultural plants cultivated in an orderly manner for the purpose of producing food. Notwithstanding the foregoing, trees, bushes, shrubs, or agricultural plants, which have sprouted as volunteers and are growing along fence lines and public rights-of-way, shall be considered to be weeds.
“Weeds” and “rank vegetation” do not include agricultural crops, such as hay and pasture.
Section II. Prohibitions.
(A) No owner of real property shall allow any growth of grass or weeds in excess of eight (8) inches in height upon his/her property.
(B) No owner of real property shall allow the growth of rank vegetation upon his/her property.
(C) When a complaint alleging a violation of this Ordinance is received by the Town from any person, or through its own employees, if it is determined that the property is in violation, the Town shall document any violation of this ordinance and issue a notice to the owner to cut the weeds or cut or remove the rank vegetation within seven (7) calendar days. If the violation is corrected by the owner or other responsible party within seven (7) days, no further action will be taken and no penalty imposed. If the violation is not corrected after seven (7) days, the Town may cause an action for violation of this Ordinance to be brought against the owner. The owner shall be fined $100.00, plus be ordered to reimburse the Town for all costs incurred in mowing and cleaning up such property.
(D) For any owner who causes the Town to take action under this ordinance more than once in a calendar year, the fine shall increase by $50.00 each successive instance after the first violation, in addition to the original fine and costs.
(E) Manner of service. The notice to remove weeds and/or rank vegetation shall be in writing and shall be served on the owner of the property one of the following ways: delivery in person, by first class mail, and/or by placement on the property where a violation occurs. As outlined in IC 36-7-10.1-3, the notice shall also state:
(1) The location of the violation;
(2) The nature of the violation;
(3) The time period for correcting the violation;
(4) The remedy that the town may seek for the violation.
Section III. Town Removal of Weeds and/or Rank Vegetation.
If the violation has not been abated by the owner within the time allowed, as noticed, the Town shall enter the property and abate the violation utilizing its own employees and equipment or a contractor engaged by the Town.
Section IV. Liability for Costs of Abatement.
When a violation of this ordinance is abated by action of the Town or its contractor, the owner(s) of record at the time the notice to remove the weeds and/or rank vegetation was served is/are jointly and severally liable for the fine and the actual cost of the work performed by the Town, or its contractor.
Section V. Invoice for Costs Incurred.
The Town shall issue an invoice to the owner of the real property for the costs incurred by the Town in bringing the property into compliance with this ordinance, including administrative costs, monetary penalty, attorney fees, and abatement costs.
If the property owner fails to pay fines and invoices for the costs incurred by the town, the Clerk-Treasurer shall be permitted to place a lien on the property in question.
Section VI. Statutory Reference.
(A) Authority of the town to adopt procedures for the removal of weeds and/or rank vegetation, see IC 36-7-9-1 et seq. and 36-7-10.1-1 et seq.
(B) For purposes of this Ordinance and IC 36-7-9-4 and 36-7-10.1-1 et seq., the town now finds that a violation of this Ordinance constitutes an unsafe premises by being a fire hazard, and/or a hazard to the public health, and/or a public nuisance, and/or a danger to a person or property.

Property owners, ratepayers and other interested parties in or served or to be served by the sewage works of the City of Scottsburg, Indiana (the “City”) are hereby notified that at the August 12th, 2024 meeting of the City Council of the City (the “Council”), the Council introduced a proposed amendment to the current rates and charges for the City’s sewage works utility pursuant to Ordinance No. 2024-11 (the “Rate Ordinance”).
