Legal Notice of Public Hearing
Notice is hereby given that the Scott County Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a public hearing at the Scott County Courthouse 1 E. McClain Avenue, Room 128, Scottsburg, IN on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 6:00 PM at which time all interested persons will be given the opportunity to be heard in reference to the matters set out in the “Description of Action Requested” below:
Case Number: V-03-23 ASH
Applicant: Thomas Ash Jr.
Owner: Thomas Ash Jr. and Jared T. Ash as JTWROS
Present Zoning: A – Agriculture
Description of Action Requested: Applicant requests a Variance from the Scott County Zoning Ordinance standard of maintaining a 30-foot setback from side property lines to allow a 1200 sq. ft. pole barn to be built at an angle, allowing front to be 10-11 feet away from the north property line and back to be 17-18 feet away from said property line.
Description of Property Affected: Parcel No. 72-02-22-200-007.008-004 with 2.707 acres and cka 2119 East Harrod Road, Austin, IN 47102
Reasons necessitating the Request: Applicant’s property is narrow, offering approximately 157 feet for development. To place the pole barn at corner of house where it can be easily accessed through use of present driveway, variance is needed so that it may be built closer to property line. Applicant has contacted adjacent neighbors on that line, and they declined to sell him enough property for the 30-foot setback. Site does not interfere with septic field.
The petition (application) and file on this matter are available for public inspection during the regular working hours of the Scott County Courthouse, 1 E. McClain Avenue, Scottsburg, IN, Suite G40 until two business days prior to the hearing date. (812-752-8445, ext. 1)
