NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON AN APPLICATION FOR LAND USE VARIANCE
The Plan Commission of the City of Seymour, Indiana will hold a public hearing on the 9th day of February 2023 at 5:00 p.m. & the Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a public hearing on the 28th day of February 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at Seymour City Hall, Council Chambers, Seymour, Indiana (via GoToMeeting https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/384057085) on an “Application to Vary from Land Use” for real estate within the jurisdiction of the Board of Zoning Appeals. A copy of the application is on file and available for review at the Department of Planning & Zoning of the City of Seymour, Indiana.
The hearing is open to the public, all adjoining property owners, and any other interested person. Interested persons may appear and offer comments on the application at the
hearing. Any person who chooses to submit written comments or objections may do so at the Department of Planning & Zoning, 301-309 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour, Indiana before 4:00 p.m. on the day of the hearing.
The name of the applicant is Kevin Burke, and the owner is the same. The affected real estate is 714 W. 5th St in Seymour, IN which fronts 5th St. The present zoning is R-1.
The applicant has requested a Land Use Variance at 714 W. 5th St. to turn it into a “vacation” spot. The house was the birthplace of John Mellencamp and Mr. Burke feels it would be an interesting place for people to rent out. Rentals to be no more than 14 days or less..

REVISED TOTAL COLIFORM RULE
Monitoring and Reporting Requirements Not Met for: Scottsburg Water
Department
Our water system recently violated a drinking water standard. Although this is not an emergency, as our customers, you have a right to know what happened, what you should do, and what we are doing to correct this situation.
We are required to monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not our drinking water standards meet EPA’s health standards. During December 2022 we did not complete all monitoring or testing for Total Coliform and therefore cannot be sure of the quality of our drinking water at that time.
What should I do? There is nothing you need to do at this time. You do not need to boil your water or take other corrective actions. You may continue to drink the water.
What does this mean? This is not an immediate risk. If it had been, you would have been notified immediately.
What Happened? Scottsburg water failed to collect the IDEM required samples for the last week of December 2022
What is being done? Scottsburg water has resumed all regularly scheduled testing required by IDEM.
