You are hereby notified that a public hearing will be held before the Commissioners of Scott County, Indiana on July 11, 2022 at the hour of 5:00 p.m. (local time) in the Commissioners Room, Suite 128, First Floor, Scott County Courthouse,Scottsburg, Indiana, upon a proposed adoption of an ordinance (see below) designating the intersection of Slab Road and Cutshall Road, Jennings Township, a 4-Way Stop intersection.

Whereas, IC 9-21-1-3 grants certain powers to local authorities regarding the designation of intersections under the local authority’s jurisdiction and the placement of stop signs, to the local authority;

Whereas, IC 9-21-1-3(a)(7) allows a county to pass an ordinance designating an intersection as a stop intersection and require all vehicles to stop at one (1) or more entrances to the intersection.

OF THE SCOTT COUNTY, INDIANA

AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING AN INTERSECTION AS A “STOP INTERSECTION” AND DIRECTING THE PLACEMENT OF A STOP SIGN

WHEREAS, I.C. 9-21-1-3 grants certain powers to local authorities regarding the designation of intersections under the local authority’s jurisdiction and the placement of stop signs, to the local authority, and;

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Scott County, Indiana, to designate the intersection of Cutshall Road and Slab Road in Sections 4 and 5, Jennings Township, as a four-way “stop intersection” and place stop signs accordingly;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF COUNTY OF SCOTT, STATE OF INDIANA:

SECTION 1: Authority

That I.C. 9-21-1-3(a)(7) allows a county to pass an ordinance designating an intersection as a stop intersection and require all vehicles to stop at one (1) or more entrances to the intersection; and

That I.C. 9-21-1-3(b) provides that an ordinance adopted under I.C. 9-21-1-3(a)(7) shall be effective when the signs giving notice of the local traffic regulation are posted at the entrance to the part of the highway that is affected.

SECTION 2: Designation of Stop Intersection and Placement of Stop Signs

(a) That the intersection of Cutshall Road and Slab Road in Sections 4 and 5, Jennings Township is hereby designated as a four-way stop intersection.

(b) That Scott County Highway Department is directed to place a stop sign on all entrances at the intersection of Cutshall Road and Slab Road in Sections 4 and 5, Jennings Township.

SECTION 3: Effective Date

This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon placement of the stop sign(s) on each of the entrances to the intersection Cutshall Road and Slab Road in Sections 4 and 5, Jennings Township.
