The Louisville campus of Galen College of Nursing recently held its 136th commencement ceremony of the LPN and RN programs. During the commencement ceremony, Dean Joan L. Frey announced the recipient of the Dr. Marge Perrin ‘Human Touch’ Award is Jackson County resident and LPN graduate, Kyle Beth Brock of rural Austin.
The recipient of the Human Touch award is selected by fellow students they believe embodies the spirit of caring. This quarter’s recipient is described as “someone who strives to find out everything possible about their patient assignment, believes in caring for the whole person, has awesome leadership skills, and is a true patient advocate”.
In particular, clinical instructors have said that Brock “is the most compassionate nursing student they have ever encountered and that this student has forever touched the teachers’ lives”.
Brock is currently attending the RN program at Galen College of Nursing and will graduate summer of 2010 with her ASN. She is looking forward to pursuing a nursing career in Jackson County as well as missionary work.
