The early bird gets the new house, or whatever that old saying is.

For over 40 years the members of the Jennings Township Conservation Club have been aiding in shelter for the feathered friends of Scott and surrounding counties.

Area residents are encouraged to fly on over to 2177 East Burn Rd, off Terry Rd, northeast of Austin this Saturday, March 14, from 8 a.m. to Noon, and grab the bluebirds in your yard a new home for the spring.

Built by J.T.C.C. members, over 125 houses will be available for giveaway. There is a limit of 2 boxes per household and given out on a first come, first serve basis.

The talented members also will have specialty and custom made houses available for purchase to accommodate Martins, Wrens, Bluebirds, Bees, Butterflies, and Bats.

A free will donation for the giveaway boxes is always appreciated.

“We guess if the early bird works so hard at getting the worm, the least we can do is build them homes,” said JCCT spokesman Gary Needler.
