Both Jackson and Scott Counties have been placed in the red— highest level the Indiana Department of Health designates— for COVID-19 cases.
In Jackson County the 7-day positivity rate as of last Friday was 15.79% with 605 residents testing positive for the virus the previous week.
In Scott County the 7-day positivity rate is 17.86% with 821 residents testing positive for COVID-19.
The Delta variant of the virus has been responsible for the surge in new cases with nearly all new positive tests for the virus coming of unvaccinated residents in the counties.
Statewide, 22 more Hoosiers died last week bringing the state’s death total due to COVID up to 14,330 since March 2020.
