Two Jackson county women were charged with possession of cocaine and other drug related offenses in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 27, in Scott County

According to Scott County Deputy Kacey Reschar, he was patrolling on US 31 on Scottsburg’s northside shortly after 1 a.m. when a dark colored passenger vehicle also traveling north turned on its right turn signal then turned it off. A short time later as the vehicles reached the Scott County Health Department, the passenger vehicle turned on its right turn sign and merged into the right turn lane and stopped.

After the deputy passed, the auto made a left hand turn onto Cope Lane.

Reschar said he turned around and made a traffic stop on the vehicle.

According to the deputy, when he advised the driver why she had been pulled over, she replied that she did not know where she was going and that “she was taking directions from her drunk friend in the back seat,” according to the probable cause affidavit.

Reschar said that while talking with the driver, identified as Alexandra Couch, 27, of South County Road 850, Austin in southern Jackson County, he smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A front seat passenger was identified as Taylor K. Street, 27, of Vine Street in Seymour. The rear seat passenger was identified as Derrik Pruske.

During a search of the vehicle, Reschar found a dark colored purse and inside he found a one-dollar bill rolled up with a white powder inside that tested positive for cocaine.

Street admitted that the purse was hers, according to the court document.

Reschar also located a black purse with a plastic baggie with what was later determined to be marijuana, a rolled dollar bill filled with a white powder and a plastic baggie with white powder. Couch admitted the purse was hers.

Couch was booked into Scott County Jail charged with possession of a narcotic drug, possession of marijuana, and visiting a common nuisance.
