Jackson County REMC will hold its 72nd annual meeting of its members on July 22, at the Jackson County Fairgrounds located on State Road 250 southeast of Brownstown.
Energy conservation and pending legislation concerning energy and the environment will be topics of interest available for discussion with REMC employees and representatives from Indiana Statewide Association of Rural Electrics and wholesale power supplier Hoosier Energy. There will also be several educational displays set up to provide facts and information to the members.
The election of three directors to represent districts one, four and seven will take place during the business session. The slates of candidates as prepared by nominating committees include John Hackman of Vallonia and David Weaver of Scottsburg for district one; Paul Elliott of Salem and Joseph Bundy of Pekin for district four; and Richard Lambring of Seymour and Bige Doyle of Crothersville for district seven. Both Elliott and Lambring currently serve as their districtís directors.
Magician Daniel Lusk will entertain the children in the fairgrounds pavilion while the adults attend the business session, and the Columbus-based band ‘40 Years of College’ will provide an hour of music and fun following the close of the business session.
Registration of REMC members will take place from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m. The business session will be called to order at 7:30 p.m. in the fairgrounds grandstand, and the childrenís show will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The traditional annual meeting treat of free hand-dipped ice cream cones will be served during the registration hours. REMC members are also invited to bring in their used incandescent light bulbs and exchange them for new compact fluorescent bulbs during the registration period. There is a limit of 12 new bulbs per member, and the program is limited to Jackson County REMC members.
