Indiana State Police arrested an Austin man Tuesday night, Jan. 20, following a two-vehicle crash that resulted in serious injuries to two people, including a child.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Trooper Javis Roush responded to the intersection of U.S. 31 and Marshfield Road, located just north of Scottsburg, for a reported injury crash. The crash involved a silver Toyota Camry driven by 25-year-old Jacob E. Boley of the 1200 block of N Bond St. in Austin, and a Buick passenger vehicle occupied by an adult driver and a 7-year-old child. Both occupants of the Buick were properly restrained.
Due to the severity of their injuries, the 7-year-old child was transported by air ambulance to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville, according to ISP Sgt. Carey Huls. The adult driver was transported by Scott County EMS to University of Louisville Hospital.
Based on observations made during the initial crash investigation, Trooper Roush initiated a separate Operating While Intoxicated investigation while the Scott County Sheriff’s Department continued the crash investigation.
As a result of that investigation, Boley faces felony charges in Scott Circuit Court with causing serious bodily injury while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction, driving while intoxicated endangering a person.
Boley was booked into Scott County Jail at 11:12 p.m. Jan. 20 and was released at 7:15 p.m. Jan. 23 after posting a $60,000 bond.
