Five Scott County residents were arrested on a variety of drug charges last Wednesday.
Around 4 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, officers from the Indiana State Police executed two search warrants. One search warrant was at a residence on Oard Springs Road in northern Scott County. During that search two people were arrested.
William Robert Waldon, 29, from Cross Street in Austin and Ashley Nicole Vernon, 25, from Oard Springs Road were arrested and incarcerated at the Scott County Jail. Both were arrested on the charges of possessing and dealing methamphetamine, possession of a syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance.
A second search warrant was conducted at a residence on State Road 256 in Scott County where Gary W. Waldon, 53, of Austin was arrested on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of a syringe and possession of paraphernalia. Matthew Murdock, 31, of Austin was also arrested at the scene for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The search warrants were a result of a shooting investigation that began in Crothersville. None of the four arrested had connections with the local shooting.
In an unrelated incident, around 1 p.m., last Wednesday, a trooper from the Indiana State Police stopped to check on a vehicle parked partially in the road at the intersection of Church Street and Rice Street in Austin. The driver, Brian Bixler, 41, from Scotts-burg, was acting suspicious so the trooper investigated further and located suspected methamphetamine on Bixler. He was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.
All five were incarcerated at the Scott County Jail.
