The Scott County Invasive Plant group held an inaugural organizational meeting on Thursday, Oct. 9.
Their tentative Mission Statement: Our mission is to protect and conserve our native landscape, raise awareness, and provide educational opportunities on invasive species for Scott County residents.
Three names for the fledgling group are being considered:
• Scott County Invasives Partnership (SCIP)
•Scott County Habitat and Invasive Volunteer Effort (SC HIVE)
•Scott County Restoration Partnership Team (SCRPT)
According to Kaila Laplace, Regional Specialist with State of Indiana Cooperative Invasives Management, the group will vote on names at the next meeting on Thursday Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Scott County Fairgrounds.
The newly formed group will hold a Weed Wrangle at Pigeon Roost this Saturday, Nov. 1.
On Saturday, Nov. 22 they will host a Holiday Wreath Making Workshop
