A 1950’s themed ice cream social will be held this Saturday, July 20, at Hamacher Hall in Crothersville. Admission is free, with refreshments of ice cream sundaes, home baked cookies, lemonade and iced tea served by the Crothersville Town Players. The event will take place from 2-4 p.m. to benefit the Crothersville Historical and Cultural Arts Association, the owners of Hamacher Hall.
“The purpose of the organization is to encourage interest in the exploration and preservation of Crothersville history, as well as to promote interest in the cultural and performing arts,” said President Brenda Holzworth.
The Crothersville Historical and Cultural Arts Association is a non-profit group with 501c3 status. Fundraisers and donations are the only means to maintain the programs available to those in the Crothersville area.
Organizers include President, Brenda Holzworth; Secretary, Linda Seals; and Treasurer, Eunice Lacey.
Hamacher Hall, built in 1885, is the former Presbyterian Church of Crothersville and has ties to John Hamacher, a founder of the Indiana town of Crothersville.
Memberships are available for $12 annually, or $6 for students. Monetary donations and volunteers are welcomed.
