Indiana State Police officers confiscated 10 pounds of marijuana early Thursday morning following a traffic stop on I-65 near Scottsburg.
At 8:58 a.m., a 2011 Chevrolet Impala was stopped for a traffic infraction in the northbound lane of I-65 near the 28 Mile Marker in Scott County.
While speaking to the occupants the Trooper Nathan Abbott reported he could smell the odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle. The trooper then called for the Indiana State Police K-9, “Kilo who alerted on the vehicle showing the presence of drugs.
A search of the vehicle yielded approximately ten pounds of marijuana packaged in one gallon plastic bags which had a street value of over $10,000.
Arrested were Kentel C. Peoples, 23, of Alpharetta, GA and Thomas McElwain Jr., 22, of Indianapolis
Each were charged with dealing marijuana, possession of marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance.
The pair were incarcerated in Scott Couinty Jail.
