The annual Houston Fall Festival will be this Saturday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the old Houston School.
There will be food (including bean soup cooked over an open fire) home made desserts, crafts, horse & wagon rides, a bake sale and live music all day.

An old-fashioned greased pig contest for the youngsters will be at 1 p.m. with registration at 12:30 p.m.
A veterans program will be at 2 p.m. in the shelterhouse.
Proceeds from the event are used to maintain and preserve the old Houston Elementary School.
The festival is located at 9830 N 750 W in northwest Jackson County. Driving from the south take SR 135 north out of Freetown three miles to SR 890 (look for Salt Creek Winery signs), turn left and follow the road to 750 W and turn right to the festival (next to the Houston Christian Church)
