An Austin woman was arrested on Thursday, July 3, after a pedestrian was struck on Booe Road at the north edge of Austin.
Chris Fugate, 43, of Austin, was jogging west on Booe Road Thursday afternoon when he was struck by a gray 2001 Saturn that was traveling east. After striking Fugate, the vehicle crashed into a yard on the south side of the roadway.
The driver, later identified as Carrie Brough, 31, of Austin, fled the scene by getting a ride with a passing motorist without checking on the injury status of the victim.
When an officer with the Indiana State Police arrived on scene, he found the injured jogger lying in a ditch on the north side of the roadway. He was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY with non-life threatening injuries.
Brough was arrested later, without incident, after she was located by authorities at a residence on Water Tower Road just north of Austin. She was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury crash and driving while suspended. She was incarcerated at the Scott County Jail.
