The holidays took a very sour turn as half of a new Christmas display was stolen from the Scott County Courthouse lawn in early December, according to Mike Chesser, director of the Scott County Visitors’ Commission, the organization which recently purchased the holiday display.
On Saturday morning, Dec. 4, Scott County woke up to half of a “Happy Holidays” sign stolen from the new courthouse Christmas display, according to Chesser, “We believe a man leaving a bar at 3:17 a.m. and took half of the lighted sign. We’re just asking for the return of the holiday sign, in working order.”
Bring it to the Scottsburg Train Depot and leave it at the front door. We are offering $150 reward for the return of the missing half of our “Happy Holiday” sign, Chesser said
The missing half of the stolen light display says simply “Holiday” with a snowman on the end of the “Y”.
Anyone seeing the light display is encouraged to contact the Scottsburg Police, Scott County Sheriff’s Department or the Scott County Visitors Commission at (812) 752-9211 with the location of the sign.
