Shortly before 1 p.m. last Thursday, April 14, Indiana State Police troopers learned that Anthony Michael Atkinson, 26, of Jeffersonville, was at a residence on Jefferson Street in Scottsburg. Atkinson wanted on warrants from Clark County and Jefferson County, KY.
When troopers pulled up to the residence they saw Atkinson playing basketball at the residence. But when Atkinson saw the troopers and opted for a ‘run from gun’ offense.
He ran into the residence. Troopers entered the home after him but Atkinson was able to escape out of a side door with troopers right behind him.
Troopers, officers from the Scottsburg City Police and Scott County deputies chased Atkinson on foot to South First Street in Scottsburg where he entered a residence uninvited. No one was at home at the time.
When officers went into the home after him he fled upstairs of the home and climbed out of an upstairs window where he jumped off the roof, nearly into the arms an officer that had helped surround the home.
Atkinson was wanted in Clark County for two counts of battery and criminal mischief. He was also wanted in Jefferson County, KY for manufacturing methamphetamine.
Atkinson now faces the new charges of resisting law enforcement and residential entry in Scott County.
He was incarcerated in Scott County Jail
