The City of Austin is offering at no charge, six days to dispose of unwanted household items that would not normally be picked up for free during regular trash pickup routes.
The Street-Sanitation Department located at the dead end of S 5th Street off of York Road will be accepting unwanted items.
This free opportunity is only available to City of Austin residents. No contractors will be permitted to participate.
The free days to dispose of trash will be this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, May 9, 10, and 11 and next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, May 16, 17, and 18. Hours to dispose will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
There will be a list of unaccepted items posted at the Street-Sanitation Department or residents may call the Mayor’s office at 812-794-6646 Option 1 with any questions.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this no cost opportunity. Anyone who is elderly or disabled can contact the Mayor’s office to schedule a pick up for unwanted items they are not able to take to the Street-Sanitation Department.
Scheduled pickups will only be for the elderly or disabled who have no means of transportation to get their unwanted items delivered and only if city workers have availability to do so.
