Five Scott County residents were given prison sentences in Scott Circuit Court recently, according to Prosecutor Chris Owens.
On Thursday, Nov. 2, Preston King, 22, of Scottsburg, had the remainder of his three year home detention sentence revoked and will now serve that time in prison for violating the rules of his home detention. Upon his release from prison, King will be placed on probation for an additional period of three years.
That same day three people were sentenced to prison for drug possession. Bradley Phipps, 49,of Scottsburg, was sentenced to six years in prison, for possession of methamphetamine.
Sally C. Stepp, 49, of Scottsburg, was sentenced on Nov. 2 to six years, in prison, for possession of methamphetamine.
Jonathan Evans, 34, of Lexington, was sentenced to two and one-half years in prison, for possession of methamphetamine.
On Friday Nov. 3, Wayne Wilson, Jr. 51, of Scottsburg was sentenced to one and one-half years in prison for violating the terms of his probation.
Owens said the sentences of King, Phipps, Stepp, and Evans were all results of plea agreements between the Prosecutor’s Office and the defense. Wilson’s sentence was the result of an admission to violating his probation.
Mark Kiesler handled the cases for the prosecutor’s office.
“I would like to thank the Scott County Sheriff’s Department and the Scottsburg Police Department for their work that led to these sentences as well as Scott County Probation Department and the Scott County Community Corrections Department for their work in holding individuals to accountant for their actions while on probation and home detention,” said Owens.
