Crothersville Water Utility workers will be flushing fire hydrants on Thursday, Oct. 1.
“We will be starting around 8 a.m. and should be finished by 4 p.m.,” water utility superintendent Chris Mains. “Utility customers are advised that water may be discolored for a while following the flushing and should refrain from doing laundry during this time otherwise clothes may be stained.”
Mains said the semi-annual flushing rids the lines of accumulated rust and sediment and also allows the water utility to note which hydrants may need repair or replacement for firefighting purposes.
