The Crothersville FFA Chapter is in full swing with the community wide Toy & Food Drive. The Toy & Food Drive is a community outreach program designed to assist families with canned goods, non-perishable food items, and a few toys.
The 56 member chapter members have been working hard this fall at frying pork burgers, hosting the craft show, writing letters, and holding a silent auction to help raise funds for the activity. A school wide canned drive has begun, a wall decorating contest will be held in the high school on Friday, and a dance will be sponsored after the high school game this Saturday with all proceeds going to the drive.
“With the given economy, deliveries are expected to exceed last years numbers. In turn, more individuals are reluctant to make donations,” said FFA advisor Linda Maxie. “We are confident that the Crothersville community will step up to the challenge to make this activity a success. Special thanks goes out to a few businesses, organizations and churches who have already donated.”
If you would like to donate to the drive, please send your contribution to: Crothersville FFA, 109 N. Preston Street, Crothersville, IN 47229, or stop by the high school during school hours. The chapter is also accepting gently used or new toys.
FFA members assisted by the Crothersville-Vernon Township volunteer Fire Department will be delivering food and toy on Saturday, Dec. 20. Contributions of food, toys and cash will be accepted up through Friday, Dec. 19, Maxie said.
In recognition of the 20 year anniversary of the Toy & Food Drive, residents are asked to be a part of a book/journal that is being put together highlighting previous drives. Residents can submit their thoughts of how the drive has effected them personally or how they have contributed or been a part of the drive. Send your notes to the chapter at the high school.
