Scott County Sheriff’s Deputies took four people to jail after they were found to be in possession of drugs last week.
The most significant arrest occurred on Tuesday, May 25, following a citizen’s tip. Deputies John Hartman, Skylar Thompson and Josh Juliot responded to a report of suspicious person at a business in rural Scott County.
When they arrived and questioned the man, their investigation uncovered nearly 17 grams of methamphetamine, suspected heroin and paraphernalia, according to Scott County Sheriff Jerry Goodin. Travis Brock, 39, of Scottsburg was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of narcotic drug, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia.
Sheriff Goodin praised the telephone callers with the tip. “This is a classic example of community oriented policing,” said Goodin.
Earlier on Saturday, May 22, Deputies William Morris and Charlie Morgan stopped of a bicyclist for riding erratically in Austin. Their investigation led to the arrest of Trenton Bowling, 18, of Austin for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe and maintaining a common nuisance.
On Sunday, May 23, Deputy Chris Bowling responded to Lake Iola on a report of people sleeping inside of a vehicle. His investigation, with assistance from Scottsburg City Police, led to the arrest of two people on drug related charges.
Tyler Kennedy, 24, of Henryville and Destiny Braun, 24, of Austin were arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a legend drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
All were incarcerated in Scott County Jail.
