Scottsburg Board of Works approved the placement of an art box for creative art supplies for children at their regular meeting on February 28.
Carmen Boley, Executive Director of the Advisory Plan Commission said that Jenni Brown board president of the nonprofit organization Bree’s Blessing requested to put an art box at 68 W Wardell St. across from the Scott County Public Library in front of where the nonprofit is currently based.
Bree’s Blessing is an organization that provides opportunities for pediatric cancer patients to be able connect to art and music while a child is going through treatments and coping with their diagnosis.
Boley said due to the development ordinance that the city of Scottsburg has that if anyone was to put a temporary structure, permission to do so would have to come from the Board of Works.
The art box that is to be placed by Bree’s Blessing is to be filled with art supplies for kids in the community have access to free art supplies said Boley.
The board approved unanimously to allow the art box to be able to be placed for the opportunity for access to free art supplies.
