Two senior citizens were pronounced dead at the scene of a two car head-on crash last Wednesday afternoon, June 13, east of Austin.
Police said the accident occurred around 3:25 p.m. on State Road 256 about a quarter mile east of Coffee Pot Road when a gray 2007 Ford 500 traveling west bound driven by Eleanor D. Morgan, 76, of Seymour, crossed the centerline and crashed head on into a red 2007 Chevrolet Colorado driven by Joyce Turner, 81, of Austin.
Indiana State Police Sgt. Jerry Goodin said, it is unknown at this time why the Ford 500 driven by Eleanor D. Morgan crossed the center line.
Turner was not wearing her seat belt, Goodin said, however Morgan was. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene by the Scott County Coroner’s Office.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
This investigation continues following an Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team investigating the crash scene.
