A new Dollar General Store will be built on US 31 just south of its present location, according to plans on file at Crothersville Town Hall.
An .868 of an acre vacant lot purchased from Terry Amick of Scottsburg will house the nearly 10,000 square foot building. The new store will be approximately 25% larger than the existing retail outlet.
According to the plans, the current store is to be razed and turned into parking. Sidewalks are to be built along the west side of US 31.
No construction start was available as of the newspaper deadline.
The local Dollar General, which opened in Crothersville in early 2009, is located in a concrete block building originally built in 1966 as Nolting’s IGA and later Nolting’s Super Valu.
