At their meeting last week, Scott County School District 1 aboard of school trustees approved the hiring of playground monitors just over a month after the kidnapping of an Austin Elementary student.
Olan Combs and Christina Bowles were hired and will be walking the perimeters of the playground around the fence to be extra eyes on the safety of the students.
“They monitor just the perimeter,” said Superintendent Trevor Jones. He added that their primary focus wouldn’t be on the students at recess but to keep an eye on the fence around the playground.
