“Christmas has definitely come to Crothersville,” said Brenda Holzworth, president of the Crothersville Historical and Cultural Arts Association. “Following a great FFA Craft Show, the town employees adding some wonderful Christmas decorations, and then, on Sunday, the Christmas in the ‘Ville program at Hamacher Hall and Stoplight Corner, the next event at Hamacher Hall is the “Getting Ready for Christmas,” this Friday evening, Dec. 11, opening at 6 p.m.”
This program will be presented as a dinner theater, and will conclude with a Christmas Auction of donated items to raise funds for Hamacher Hall.
Hamacher Hall is the former Presbyterian Church, and is located at 211 East Howard Street in Crothersville.
Those attending will be able to use the new handicap ramp and the new steps. “These have just been constructed, thanks to a generous monetary gift,” said Holzworth. Once inside, those attending will be treated to a potato soup, ham salad sandwiches, drinks, and dessert. The cost for the the dinner theater is just $10, or $5 for children under 10.
A skit, “At the Post Office,” adapted from an old Erma Bombeck column will begin, followed by “Christmas Letters” from two well-known ladies. Then comes a poem, “Jest ‘Fore Christmas!” and finally a selection, “Ready, Set, Go…” emphasizing the birth of Jesus Christ.
“The Crothersville Town Players encourage all to attend, and promise an appropriate and entertaining program, as well as a delicious meal,” said Holzworth.
Donations of items for the Auction are still being accepted, and those wishing to donate items should call Linda (812-793-2322) or Brenda (812-793-2760).
“Our organization exists to encourage area residents to explore and appreciate Crothersville history, and to enjoy and participate in the visual and performing arts,” said Holzworth. All funds received by the Crothersville Historical and Cultural Arts Association are used for the expenses of operating and improving the facilities of Hamacher Hall and the Annex Building. Contributions are tax deductible.
