Traffic violations sent three Scott County residents to jail on drug charges last month.

While on patrol on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 10:10 p.m. deputies made a traffic stop on Cherry Street when the driver of the vehicle, Amanda Goodin, 43, of the 3900 block of S US 31 in Scottsburg, and her passenger, Debra Smith, 56, of the 100 block of W. High Street in Scottsburg, were subsequently arrested for numerous drug charges.

Deputies located methamphetamine, marijuana, and a variety of drug paraphernalia during the investigation at the scene.

Goodin and Smith were both arrested and transported to the Scott County Jail.

Goodin was charged with possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, and possession of paraphernalia. Scott Circuit Court Magistrate Alison T. Frazier send Goodin’s bond at $15,000.

Goodin is no relation to Scott County Sheriff Jerry Goodin.

Smith was arrested for dealing in methamphetamine over 10 grams, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.  Senior Judge Kenneth Abbott set Smith’s bond at $25,000 full cash only.

As of the Times press deadline, both women remain incarcerated.

Deputies were patrolling again on Saturday, Feb. 21, when a traffic violation resulted in another drug arrest.

Bruce Wayne Napier

The driver, Bruce Wayne Napier, 67, of the 800 block of S First St., in Scottsburg was arrested for drug violations after deputies located methamphetamine and marijuana during the roadside investigation.

He was booked into Scot County Jail at 10:49 a.m. Senior Judge Abbott set Napier’s bon at $1,000 full cash only.

As of the Times press deadline, Napier remains incarcerated.
