Scott County Sheriff’s Deputies continued their battle against drugs sending seven people to jail on a variety of drug and other charges last week.
On Saturday, March 13, Deputies Zach Brown and Charlie Morgan answered a suspicious person call in Austin. Their investigation led to the arrest of two people on drug related charges.
Katherine Bowman, 44, of Austin was arrested for possession of narcotic drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Enick White, 42, of Austin was arrested for possession of a narcotic drug and possession of methamphetamine.
Deputies were assisted by the Austin Police Department.
That same day Deputies John Hartman and Keith Hartman responded to a trespassing call at a local business in Scottsburg. After they arrived they charged Edward Akers, 41, of Scottsburg with criminal trespassing, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
Late the same deputies responded to a report of reckless driving in Scottsburg. Assisted by Scottsburg Police officers, the vehicle was located and their investigation led to the arrest of Linda Jent, 67, of Scottsburg for driving without a license, leaving the scene of an accident possession of a controlled substance, possession of a legend drug, possession of marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Monday, March 15, Deputies John Hartman and Shawn Mayer went to a residence in rural Scott County on a report of a burglary in progress. When they arrived officers found Brandon Adam, 37, of Lexington inside the garage of the home. His vehicle was parked in the driveway loaded with articles from the garage.
Adam was taken into custody and while being arrested deputies located approximately 17 grams of methamphetamine.
Adam was charged with burglary, theft, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance.
On Tuesday, March 16, Deputy Johnney Coomer was alerted to a vehicle traveling recklessly on Boatman Road. The deputy also learned that the Austin Police Department had just received a call of a vehicle matching the description of the reckless driving dispatch that had left the scene of an accident.
Deputy Coomer observe the suspect vehicle turn into a residential area in Scottsburg, and stopped the auto. The deputy said the driver was attempting to drive through the Amberley Point Community and there were youngsters playing in the area.
Coomer was assisted by Deputies John Hartman, Skylar Thompson, Zach Brown and Jessica Dickey and officers with the Scottsburg City Police.
The driver of the vehicle, Jonathan Stidham, 36, of Scottsburg was charged with failure to stop after a property damage accident, public intoxication, criminal mischief, intimidation, criminal recklessness, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, driving while intoxicated, neglect of a dependent and resisting law enforcement, and battery by bodily waste to a police officer, disorderly conduct,
On Wednesday, March 17, Deputy Zach Brown made a traffic stop in rural Scott County which led to the arrest of Dorothy Richie, 58, of Scottsburg for possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, driving while suspended with a prior conviction, possession of a legend drug and maintaining a common nuisance.
All were incarcerated in Scott County Jail.
