Debra A. Gay, 62, of West Thomastown Road, Scottsburg was convicted last week of dealing in methamphetamine over 10 grams from an incident in September 2020, according to Scott County Prosecutor Chris Owens. Gay sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant working for the Indiana State Police.

Her plea of guilty resulted in being sentenced to a total of 17.5 years with 14 of those years to be served in prison followed by 3.5 years on supervised probation after her release from incarceration, Owens said.

When Ms. Gay picked up these charges she was out of jail on a bond she had previously posted for another drug dealing case, the prosecutor said.

“Our community is fed up with these drug dealers who continue to harm our citizens with the poisons they illegally peddle,” said Owens. “We will continue the fight to get the drug dealers off our streets and the illegal drugs out of Scott County.”

He thanked the Indiana State Police for their work in this investigation and Chief Deputy Prosecutor Amanda Herald for leading the prosecution.
