For a second year, Jackson County family members can honor a past or present member of the United States Armed Forces with a commemorative banner in Brownstown, Crothersville, and Seymour.

Diana Ray, Regent, Fort Vallonia Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), announces that the second year of Veteran Banners in Jackson County are now available to order.

“Our community is proud to honor the servicemen and servicewomen of Jackson County,” said Ray. “This program is open to any member of the U.S. Armed Forces who is retired, honorably discharged, or currently serving.”

Banners will hang for one season—from Memorial Day to Veterans Day. Banners will hang on Tipton Street in Seymour and along US 31 in Crothersville.

After the season ends, the banner is yours to keep. We will contact a family member when it is ready to pick up, she said.

Veteran honoree’s banner is $150. The deadline to receive application is Monday, April 15.

Photos must be no larger than 8-by-10 inches and no smaller than 5-by-7 inches. Only original photos or high-resolution copies will be accepted. A photo of the service member in uniform is preferred. If that’s not possible, a portrait photo will be allowed.

The photo must be clear and high quality on photo paper, and it must be print ready. No retouching is provided. No group photos are accepted.

A portion of the proceeds from the purchase of these banners are used to fund the Fort Vallonia Chapter’s community service efforts in Jackson County.
