Scott County Sheriff’s Deputies continued their battle with drug users and dealers last week charging eight with a variety of offenses.
Just after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, Deputy Zach Brown made a routine traffic stop on U.S. 31 in Underwood to talk with the vehicle’s driver Christopher Kiviniemi, 47, of Scottsburg. During the stop Brown was discovered that Kiviniemi was a habitual traffic violator and was driving without a license. The deputy located marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Kiviniemi was charged with being a habitual traffic violator, driving without a license, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
That same day, Benjamin McIntosh, 34, of Crothersville was booked into jail for possession of a narcotic drug, carrying a handgun without a license and failure to appear in court.
On Wednesday, April 7, Deputy John Hartman accompanied the Scott County Probation Office in making a home visit to the Scottsburg residence of Jason Wesson. While conducting the routine home visit their investigation led to the arrest of two people for drug related charges.
Jason Wesson, 44, of Scottsburg was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance.
Josephine Holt, 38, of Scottsburg was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of a syringe and possession of paraphernalia.
That same day, Deputy John Hartman observed Ereinna Woods, 40, of Scottsburg, at Scott County Sheriff’s Office who appeared to be impaired. His investigation revealed, Woods is on probation and was taken to Community Corrections.
She told authorities that Don Strong, 58, of Lexington was enroute to pick her up. Hartman observed Strong in his vehicle by the Sheriff’s Office. The deputy learned that Strong was a habitual traffic violator and was driving without a valid license.
Woods was taken into custody for public intoxication and fleeing lawful detention. Strong was charged with being a habitual traffic violator, possession of methamphetamine, and maintaining a common nuisance.
Around 10 p.m. last Wednesday night, Deputies Johnny Coomer and Josh Hammond stopped a vehicle on State Road 56 east of Scottsburg. During the stop their investigation led to the arrest of the driver, Christopher Bott, 40, of Dupont, for possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and driving while suspended with a prior conviction.
A passenger in his vehicle, Tricia Engle, 33, of Dupont was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine, visiting a common nuisance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and violation of the legend drug act.
