A Crothersville woman and a Brownstown man face felony charges related to the manufacture of methamphetamine following a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon in Freetown.
Samantha M. Brooks, 24, of Crothersville and Kenneth J. Loudermilk, 26, of Brownstown are facing charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and Legend Drug Act violations.
County Officer Jeff Walters said he pulled up behind a vehicle in the parking lot of the post office in Freetown. After pulling away, Brooks eventually stopped and during a search the sheriff’s deputy found an active meth lab inside.
Walters said as the vehicle pulled away from the post office, he saw some items being thrown from it, and those items were later recovered and identified as items used in making meth by Lt. Darin Downs of the sheriff’s department.
Brooks and Loudermilk were taken to Jackson County Jail and are being held on $100,005 bonds as of Sunday night.
An Indiana State Police Meth Suppression Team, including troopers Marty Mead and Matt Powell, was called to the scene to dismantle the lab.
