A domestic disagreement last week resulted in Crothersville Police taking a man and woman to jail on drug charges.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed by CPD officer Zach Elliott, he was summoned to the 500 block of North Jackson Street on Monday, Nov. 24, by Lana Marie Silvers, 40, to oversee a personal possession acquisition from her van by David F. Cruz, 47, of Charlestown.
Silvers told police that she and Cruz had broken up the evening before following an argument and that police transported him to the McDonald’s in Scottsburg.
With Crothersville Chief of Police Matt Browning remaining at Silvers’ residence, Elliott located Cruz near the Dollar General Store on US 31 in Crothersville. The officer took Cruz to Silvers’ van on Jackson Street where he retrieved his belongings.
When he opened the passenger door to search for a phone charger, Elliott observed a used meth pipe with a white burnt substance on it.
When asked, Cruz responded that he did not know anything about it. When Elliot inquired when he had last used meth, Cruz said two days ago.
A check of court records showed that Cruz had been incarcerated in Clark County Jail for possession of methamphetamine.
When Elliott asked Silvers about the pipe in her van, she stated she did not know anything about it but acknowledged that the argument the night before between her and Cruz was over methamphetamine.
She told the officer the last time she had used meth was in her van a couple of days ago, according to the probable cause.
Court records show that Silvers is also facing drug charges in Clark County.
Searching the van, officers located a metal tray with a burnt white substance and a burnt brown substance both of which tested positive for methamphetamine.
Both Silvers and Cruz were booked into Jackson County Jail around 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 24 on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
As of the Times press deadline the pair remained incarcerated.
